Privacy Policy

YellChef is a hands-free cooking app for iPhone and iPad. It walks you through a recipe one step at a time, and you can shout to move to the next step or stop a timer. Shout detection runs on your device.

YellChef has no account and includes no advertising, analytics or error-reporting services. It does not send your recipes, settings, activity or microphone audio to us or to any third party.

To provide its features, YellChef stores favorite recipes, selected language, voice settings, onboarding state, recipe progress, timer state, and the number and dates of your tips on your device.

YellChef does not collect crash reports or usage data itself. If you choose to share analytics with app developers in your device settings, Apple may provide us with crash reports and aggregated usage statistics under its own Privacy Policy. We use them only to find and fix problems in YellChef.

Microphone access is optional and used only to detect a shout on your device: to move between recipe steps, stop a timer, or test shout detection in Settings. YellChef does not transcribe speech, record audio or keep microphone input. Notification permission is used only for timer alerts.

You can allow or revoke these permissions at any time in Settings on your iPhone or iPad. The features that need them then stop working, and the rest of the app keeps working.

Apple processes App Store purchases under its own Privacy Policy. We do not receive your name, Apple Account or payment card details; Apple gives us only sales reports that do not identify you.

Tips in YellChef are optional and unlock nothing. The app keeps only the number and dates of your tips, so it can thank you, and no transaction identifiers.

This website uses no cookies, analytics or third-party content. Like most web hosts, its hosting provider may keep standard server logs, such as IP address, browser type and the page requested. They are kept only as long as the hosting provider needs them for security and operation, and are processed on the basis of our legitimate interest in running a secure website (GDPR Art. 6(1)(f)), and we do not use them to identify you.

Because neither YellChef nor this website tracks you across sites or services, they do not respond differently to Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control signals.

This website links to Ko-fi for optional donations. If you follow that link, Ko-fi’s own privacy policy applies, and Ko-fi may share with us the name, email address and message you give and the amount of your donation. We use this only to record and acknowledge donations, as our legitimate interest and accounting obligations require (GDPR Art. 6(1)(c) and (f)), and keep it only as long as tax and accounting law requires.

Data that YellChef stores on your device stays there until you clear it in the app or delete the app. Backups of your device, such as iCloud Backup or a backup on your computer, may keep copies, which you control.

No software or storage system can guarantee complete security or prevent every loss of data. YellChef is provided without guarantees of any kind, to the fullest extent permitted by law. This does not reduce any commitment in this policy about how we handle your information. Nothing in this policy limits any right or obligation that cannot be limited under applicable law.

Timer alerts depend on your device’s notification, Focus and silent-mode settings, so food that needs close attention still needs watching.

YellChef is not directed to children and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Data that YellChef keeps on your device is under your control: we cannot see, export or delete it, and you can delete it at any time as described above. For personal information we hold, such as support emails, you may, depending on applicable law, ask us for access, correction, deletion or a portable copy, or object to or restrict its use, by emailing the address below. You may also complain to your local data protection authority. We do not sell or share personal information.

We are the seller named on YellChef’s App Store page, and we are responsible for personal information under this policy.

If you email support, we receive your email address, your message and any attachments. We use them only to answer your request, which is in your interest and ours (GDPR Art. 6(1)(f)), and keep them only as long as needed to resolve your request and any follow-up, unless the law requires us to keep them longer.

Support emails are stored by our email provider, and this website is served by our hosting provider. They process this data for us and may do so outside your country; where the law requires it, such transfers rely on safeguards such as the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses.

We may update this policy when the app or its services change. When we do, we change the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. The version published on this page replaces earlier versions.
