No. YellChef works with on-screen controls too. Microphone access is only for optional hands-free step navigation.

Is my audio uploaded or recorded?

Accepted Answer

No. In the mobile app, shout detection is processed locally on your device. YellChef does not upload microphone audio for voice navigation.

Can I leave the app while a timer is running?

Accepted Answer

Yes. YellChef keeps track of recipe timer progress, can continue timers in the background, and a timer notification can bring you back to the relevant recipe step.
